What is the Mid-South Mission of Mercy?

The Mid-South Mission of Mercy (MidMOM) is an free, two-day dental clinic sponsored by the Memphis Dental Society for under-served people living in Memphis and the surrounding Mid-South area, many of whom are from working families who do not have access to dental work or cannot afford dental insurance. All services are provided free of charge by licensed dentists from Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas, assisted by a host of volunteers. The next MidMOM clinic will be held in 2023 at Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, TN.

Our goal is to treat approximately 2,000 patients at our event and provide $1,000,000 in free dental care. This two day clinic will utilize approximately 1,900 volunteers, both dental and non-dental, to make this event happen. On Friday and Saturday the clinic will open at 6:00am and continue taking patients until we reach our capacity for the day. Treatment offered will include: diagnosis by a dentist, minor restorative fillings, extractions, and cleanings. Additionally, we will connect patients to the agencies that are available for further treatment in our community - such as Church Health Center (CHC), Christ Community Clinic, TennCare and the Christian Mobile Dental Clinic - and educate them on the importance of good oral health.

Since 2016, we have provided over 6.9 million dollars worth of dentistry to more than 11,000 patients in the greater Memphis area with the help of nearly 10,000 volunteers. The next MidMOM clinic will be held in 2023 at Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, TN.

The America’s Dentist Care Foundation (ADCF) was founded in 2008 to provide dental equipment, technical support, and clinic expertise to groups that hold Mission of Mercy (MOM) dental clinics. The first MOM project was held in 2000 with the goal of providing free dental care to individuals who are under served; due to being uninsured, under-insured, or simply having limited access to dental care.  All MOM projects provide care to both adults and children, on a first come, first serve basis.

While the ADCF has been helping states organize MOM events for years, the first MidMOM event took place in 2016.
